I have always said I could build a bathtub out of standing seam metal that was mechanically double locked. Well last week I got to put my words into action.We were asked to install a standing seam metal roof on a flat roof that pooled water at the back of the roof and did not drain into the scuppers at either corner. To solve this problem we built a 4″ “dome” cricket with no ridge out of plywood and covered the entire roof in high temperature ice and water shield. As you can see from the photo below the roof is beautiful and drains perfectly. The “dome” cricket is about 4″ higher than the rest of the roof and forces the water to the corner scuppers where ALL the water drains. It’s a beautiful bathtub if I do say so myself!
